The house is directly across the street from the home of Harry and Bess Truman. It is part of the Truman Historic District walking tour and this is the marker in the sidewalk in front of the house. The marker states that Harry started his courtship of Bess Wallace when he took the cake plate back. In fact, he had his eye on her from the time they were very young.
