NOLAND STORIES
The Nolands were prominent citizens in the early days of Jackson County, Missouri. While there are many descendants of these Nolands remaining in Jackson County today, they do not have the same prominence that they once did. In this section of my web site, I intend to offer various stories about the Nolands from a broader perspective than as something might relate to each individual person.
What I pressently have to offer is shown in the Noland Stories menu. Please feel free to read those stories. I have many other stories in mind, but those will take some time to research and prepare. I would like to add stories about the Nolands and
- Early Independence hotels;
- Mormons in Jackson County;
- Slavery in Missouri and Jackson County;
- Early Independence property ownership;
- Missouri and Jackson County politics;
- Other prominent Jackson County families (e.g., Pitchers, Wallaces & Trumans);
- Southern Methodist Church;
- Sante Fe and Oregon Trails; and
- Their decline in prominence.
