HIGHWAY INSPECTORS, FALL, 1999

Parker & Zeppelin inspect 150 Highway
Zeppelin and Parker usually accompanied me when I went to photograph the construction of Missouri 150 Highway which was being built in part in my backyard. This picture was taken in the fall of 1999. It appears to be taken very close to the east end of the bridge over the Blue River and Union Pacific Railroad tracks. At this point the eastbound lane appears to be about done, but the westbound lane (left side of photo) still needs some dirt and rock fill. The roadbed was built using tons and tons of fill. They came in with truckload after truckload of rock and dirt for weeks to build this roadway. Of course, many feet underneath where this picture was taken, there used to be trees and habitat for many animals and birds. That habitat is all gone now in the name of human progress.
