2025 CHIEFS AFC CHAMPIONSHIP SCOREBOARD SIGN
When the Chiefs won the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills, they ran a number of signs on the scoreboard highlighting the accomplishment. This one was the most important one, in my opinion.
Out of the last six seasons, the Chiefs have won the Lamar Hunt Trophy for winning the American Football Conference Championship five times, including the 2024-2025 season where they defeated the Buffalo Bills by the score of 32-29. That makes three straight AFC Championships. Unfortunately, however, they then lost in the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles by the score of 40-22 in a rather dismal game from the Chiefs' perspective. Their hoped for 3-peat just did not happen.
The Chiefs had been Super Bowl Champs in the two previous seasons, making them Super Bowl Champs three times in last six seasons! In the 2023-24 season Super Bowl they had beaten the San Francisco Forty-Niners 25-22 on February 11, 2024. Previously they had beaten the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 on February 12, 2023 and the San Francisco Forty-Niners 31-20 on February 2, 2020.
As a long time season ticket holder, winning the Super Bowl three times while I am still living is a big event. While this year's Super Bowl loss is highly disappointing, the wins that we have had kinda make the many losing seasons I have been through all worthwhile. Even the winning seasons we did have, except for long ago, never got us to the Super Bowl.
